Led by industrialist Ramon V. Villavicencio, Flying V was incorporated in 1994 in anticipation of the passing of the Oil Deregulation Law.
“Flying V was envisioned with the greater good in mind – particularly to cater to the public’s need for cost-effective energy,” Villavicencio shares. “Because petroleum is not just any other necessity. It is socially sensitive such that its availability and accessibility affects how people go about their lives. So we said, ‘There has to be another, if not better, way.’ ”
Already known as a mover and shaker in the search for renewable and alternative fuels, Villavicencio put his resolve into action by opening the first Flying V station in Hagonoy, Bulacan, in 1997.
With optimism, Villavicencio says that, “We’ve grown a lot since our first station. To date, we have 247 stations nationwide with 150 more being built to bring cost-effective petroleum to more people. And I think we’re on the right track. We’ve been a consistent presence in the Philippines’ Top 150 Corporations the past 3 years.”
“But this is not the only standard we measure ourselves against. Until such time when we realize our dream of delivering petroleum that the common Filipino can afford, we will not stop challenging ourselves to do more.”
