Flying V sponsored the sixth edition of the Boss Ironman Challenge held last January 8 2011.
A partner of the event since 2009, Flying V, with outlets in main roads/highways of Central and North Luzon, served as refueling stations as car and motorcycle enthusiasts took the challenge of driving 1,200 kilometers within a 24-hour period. The Flying V stations also doubled as checkpoints were riders had cards stamped to signify the completion of a leg.
Needing to be prepared physically and physically, this year’s Ironman Challenge tested the drivers’ stamina and alertness as the distance and deadline literally and figuratively brought them to their limits. But in the end, each driver was rewarded with the feeling of satisfaction of having completed a one-of-a-kind road trip.
First-time rider Mike Zosa shares that, “It seemed only like minutes and the next thing I know, we were already at the final Flying V checkpoint. At this late hour, all are tired but the staff was there to smile and offer water. We did it! With 5 minutes to spare. Most fun I’ve had in a single ride.”
